I met Amanda and Kyle back in 2016, when a friend of mine referred me to them for a quick portrait session. They were expecting their first child after and wanted some photos to announce it, as well as some just as a couple before she started showing. So, thats what we did! And I loved working with them.
Fast forward to that winter, we did another session for holiday cards and a new family photo as the three of them. THEN, come 2018, I received an email saying her and Kyle were engaged (and pregnant again!) and wanted me to document their wedding and engagement season. I was super pumped and so honored they chose me again to document this season of their lives.
On a gorgeous, sunny April Thursday, these two got married outside in a sweet, simple ceremony. The Springs Lodge in Aubrey was the perfect venue for them, with it’s rustic mountain resort vibes of the floor to ceiling fireplace inside and a view of some little North Texas Hills. There were tears, laughter, lots of dancing, and even a spring thunder storm later in the evening. Texas weather, am I right? You never know just how quickly it’ll change on ya. I loved the light blue, with touches of green, white, and soft pink colors they chose and that their wedding party stayed fairly intimate, with just three bridesmaids and groomsmen each. Love it. The whole vibe that day was just breezy, simple, pretty, and stress-less.
I think their day should be an example of how to have an aesthetically beautiful wedding without having to do a ton of decor or set ups. Choosing good colors and a venue that is just pretty as is helped them to have less to worry about, less to pay for (lets be real, not spending more money is ALWAYS AWESOME) and allowed them to enjoy celebrating with their friends and family in a way that suited them best. And I’m not saying having more florals or things like that doesn’t allow other couples to enjoy their day cause thats totally FALSE. Weddings of all scales can be a blast! But for THEM, for these two, it was what they wanted and what they needed. So, if you’re a couple like that, be encouraged that you don’t have to go crazy to have a gorgeous wedding day!
I’ve since been able to connect with them again for holiday minis this past fall and really am just so thankful that they continue to invest and trust in me as their photographer. It’s also really great that their just so easy to get along with, and not only that but are FUN to be around. I’ve loved getting to know them over these past four years and hope to continue being a witness and the one documenting them grow and flourish!
