I got connected with Jackie through her best friend and fellow photographer Nico (she's real talented so check her out!), when she posted in a Facebook group looking for someone do document her bestie's wedding day here at Ashton Gardens North in Houston. I've shot at the Ashton Gardens location here in North Texas a handful of times, so I was familiar with and excited about the opportunity. Thankfully, Nico forwarded my info and Jackie and I connected!
I loved getting to know Jackie a bit through out communications and phone conversations. What I loved so much about her was her desire to include the women in her life that meant so much to her while she got dressed for the day. Her mother and Nico laced up her dress, her mom put on her necklace, her now mother-in-law put on her veil, her sister got to fluff her dress, all while her grandmother and bridesmaids looked on. In addition to her thoughtfulness, I felt like every time I looked at her she had a smile on her face. Her excitement about marrying her best friend radiated off of her and totally set the tone for the rest of the day.
Of course, though, I can't forget Eric. While I wasn't able to communicate with him during the planning process, he had such an awesome attitude all day long. He was kind and considerate and so willing to make my photo suggestions happen, all the while laughing and joking with his friends. Top notch groom who clearly loves his bride and his buds is all I could ever ask for.
I love the opportunity to work in other markets, in different cites, in new places. I've had a great handful of those opportunities the past year and a half and I can only hope to continue to meet more people, in even newer places. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Delfgaauw, for being kind, accommodating, and overall just having a GOOD TIME on your wedding day! It made working with you and for you a joy!
